John Gunn & Sons Ltd was established in 1912 and has traded for over 100 years.

Over the years Gunn’s have diversified and expanded its services whilst addressing changing conditions and demands of the present day. This has allowed it to become one of the major players in its field in the North of Scotland. The company’s strong teamwork, experience and commitment enable it to provide a quality service to their clients.

An opportunity has become available at our workshop in Lybster for an Apprentice Plant Mechanic. This is a three-year apprenticeship where you will gain SVQ Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance SCQF level 5.

Working Conditions

  • The working hours will be 47.5 hours per week.
  • Formal apprentice training will be provided by external trainer in weekly blocks throughout the year.
  • Practical training will be provided on site.
  • Required to work additional hours as necessitated by the needs of the business.
  • Involves working in external conditions with exposure to all types of weather.

Personal Profile

  • Keen interest in mechanical repairs, construction machinery, lorries and a good attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, friendly, flexible approach to your working day and a willingness to work with and support colleagues.
  • Enthusiastic, engaged attitude and eagerness to learn and develop personally and professionally.
